About re:atomics

I don’t know what re:atomics will become yet. It’s the start of a company, and right now it’s me learning, gathering research, and sharing what I can make sense of.

Why nuclear?

I think nuclear has a lot to offer. What fascinates me is everything around the reaction: where the fuel comes from, how we move the heat, and what we can do with the products afterward.

I’m starting with fission because it already works. I want to understand why these systems are built the way they are. What could we do differently? What sounds promising until you look more closely?

What I’m interested in

  • Fuel & materials

Where does fuel come from, and how does it change in a reactor?

  • Chemistry & recovery

Could enzymes or other biological processes make material recovery easier?

  • Reactor engineering

What sets the limits on a design? Could we approach it differently?

  • Energy & other applications

How could we use spare power, heat, or radioactive products?

The work today

I ask questions, look for research, and work through the answers. Some of that becomes an investigation here. Some becomes an explanation or an exercise I can come back to.

I’m optimistic about nuclear, but every approach has trade-offs. I want the sources and difficult questions here too, including where I got something wrong.

What could come next

Eventually, I’d love to bring engineers, physicists, and funding together to work on specific problems. I haven’t chosen a product to build. First, I need to understand enough to know which questions are worth pursuing.
